KMI Guitar Lesson Program Benefits

Some of the benefits of the programs offered by Kolob Music Instruction:

  • Flexibility of schedule

Scheduling flexibility is built into all of the programs.  This allows you to learn to play at the most convenient times for you and your life.  Unlike other guitar instruction where you are assigned a set time, on a set night of the week, KMI programs are scheduled with your needs in mind.  If you can't make it to a session on Tuesday, then come to the session on Monday, or Thursday, or maybe Saturday morning is better for you.  You choose which day works for you this week.  If that day doesn't work for you next week, no problem.  Just choose the day that does work for you!

  • Learning directly from the experiences of other students

You have direct, front-row access to other students when they ask questions about the lesson.  Often, students find that someone else asks a question that they haven't thought of.  Or another student might ask a question that you would have thought of after you got home, but now you can find out the answer before you even had the question, and your practice effectiveness will benefit from that.

  • Ability to directly measure progress

Students at Kolob Music Instruction are given the tools they need to measure their progress in a meaningful way.  Practice logs are used, along with detailed instructions from the teacher, so that a record can be kept.  The practice logs can be referred to later, and improvement is clearly visible.

  • More relaxed atmosphere (more fun at the lesson)

Sessions at KMI are always fun.  We do a lot of smiling and laughing, but we also get a lot done.  Each student is encouraged to progress at their own pace, and individual attention from the teacher ensures that this pace is not "too slow" to have fun.  Between jam sessions and friendly discussions about a wide variety of musical topics, the time always seems to be too short.  But the good news with that is, there will be another session soon enough!

  • Better absorption of knowledge

One of the most common reasons why students stop taking lessons is because they become overwhelmed by all of the content that the teacher piles on them.  At KMI, Ken works with each student's strengths and weaknesses in order to pace the lessons so that overwhelm never becomes an issue.  If something is not correctly understood by a student, Ken will continue to work with the student until the concept is clear in the student's mind, and they can demonstrate full understanding of it.

  • Direct access to the teacher to get questions answered

Email is a very good way to contact Ken and get your questions answered in between sessions.  Many students also attend the extra training sessions that are held during the week.  These are guided practice sessions.  Imagine if your teacher could be in the room with you when you practice, making sure that the way you are practicing will bring the best results, in the shortest amount of time.  That is what the training sessions are all about.  But we have fun at these sessions, too.  Sometimes a spontaneous jam session comes about during a training session!  And jamming is great tool for improving your guitar playing quickly!
